Batch Corrections on Submitted FAFSA Guidance Announced
McMahon Confirmation as Secretary of Education Sliding to Monday
Overview
A little over an hour ago, the U.S. Department of Education released an email to notify the community of a new Electronic Announcement providing new information on efforts to continue to clean up FAFSA information from the previous and current submission cycles, along with other guidance as well. CSPEN shares a copy of the full email and links to the key EAs below.
Also, on yesterday’s CSPEN webinar we discussed the status of both Secretary of Education designee Linda McMahon, who is awaiting a vote by the full Senate to be confirmed for the position. And we ail shared that yesterday there was a closed Executive Session of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee to approve Secretary of Labor designee Lori Chavez-DeRemer to move her confirmation forward.
Today we can share that the full Senate vote for Ms. McMahon has been pushed back until Monday and that Ms. Chavez-DeRemer has been favorably voted out of the Senate HELP Committee, and now she too awaits full Senate consideration. CSPEN will continue to monitor the Senate’s actions on these two cabinet level agency nominees.
Department of Education Email
Dear colleagues,
A new Electronic Announcement (fsapartners.ed.gov/knowledge-center/library/electronic-announcements/2025-02-27/2024-25-and-2025-26-fafsa-update-availability-batch-corrections-processing-resolution-isir-processing-error) ((APP-25-09) 2024-25 and 2025-26 FAFSA Update: Availability of Batch Corrections Processing, Resolution of ISIR Processing Error) provides an update on the launch of batch institutional corrections via the Electronic Data Exchange (EDE) for the 2024–25 and 2025–26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) cycles. We also provide information about the resolution of an issue that resulted in a blank Student Aid Index (SAI) without a reject reason.
Processing of batch corrections for both the 2024–25 and 2025–26 cycles began on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025 at 12:01 p.m. Eastern time. Any file transmitted prior to that was cleared from the queue and will not be processed. Batch correction files must be transmitted to Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) mailbox TGDE552.
Over the last few weeks, we have been conducting beta testing of the batch corrections process. During this testing period, we successfully processed 16 batch files containing corrections to over 200 records from both award years. We are grateful for the time and energy of the institutions that participated in beta testing with us to ensure that batch files are correctly transmitted and contain the proper corrections, and to ensure improved guidance.
As institutions begin batch processing for the first time since FAFSA Simplification, there are a series of implementation scenarios for submitting batch institutional corrections via EDE that may differ from prior experiences submitting corrections under the legacy Central Processing System (CPS). Please refer to the guidance and reminders in the Electronic Announcement (fsapartners.ed.gov/knowledge-center/library/electronic-announcements/2025-02-27/2024-25-and-2025-26-fafsa-update-availability-batch-corrections-processing-resolution-isir-processing-error) ((APP-25-09) 2024-25 and 2025-26 FAFSA Update: Availability of Batch Corrections Processing, Resolution of ISIR Processing Error) to navigate these scenarios and avoid unnecessary rejected ISIRs or incomplete corrections.
